THE BEST ACCOMMODATION IN ZAHARA - This is a luxury 3 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment on 2 levels, it is situated on a communal complex with pool and gardens. There are wonderful views from the front terraces out to sea, and from the top rear terrace over the countryside. You can actually lie in bed of a morning and watch the waves. The outside space is as big as the indoor space, so you will always be able to find a place to catch the sun. It has been fitted with all home comforts, hence there is no need to leave the apartment at all, for the duration of your holiday. Restaurants, bars and supermarkets are all within easy walking distance and the beach is a short 2-minute walk through the gardens and pool area. The pool area also has a children’s pool and play area, along with 2 paddle tennis courts. Many guests return year after year, as they cannot find anything to match this wonderful apartment.

Area Description

Zahara de los Atunes is a small fishing village on Costa de la Luz 30 km north of Tarifa on the Atlantic coast. It belongs to Cadiz province. To find Zahara, you need to turn off the coast road (CN 340) at a little bar called Venta el Retin at km 56.

Zahara is a windswept place with an interesting atmosphere. On a quiet day, it is like going back in time. A fine example of what we politely call Opopulist architechture. By contrast, on a summerąs day, its the trendy place to be. A stunning wilderness of 20 km of unspoilt white sandy beaches stretching as far as Cape Gracia. You can drive south from Zahara, as far as the lighthouse on Cape Gracia and explore the beaches. This is a no through road, hence the area has remained unspoiled.

In the village itself there are the sadly neglected ruins of the Castillo de las Amadrabas built in the fifteenth centry by the Dukes of Medina Sidonia for protection against pirates and later used by local fishermen to store their tuna fishing equipment.

Local Festivals: Zaharas summer festival takes place at beginning of August each year.

The 8km long playa de Zahara de los Atunes, one of the biggest tourist attractions on the coast of Cadiz, is part of the Andalusian Costa de la Luz and was awarded a white flag by the European Union.Year upon year more houses and hotels are built near this wide beach with its crystal clear water and golden sand, due to its proximity to the countryside and mountains.Numerous bars and restaurants, serving typical regional dishes, line the beach. Each Summer thousands of people from every corner of Spain and Europe come here to sample the fish, to enjoy the sun sets and relax in the peace and quiet of a friendly atmosphere – all of which constitutes an unforgettable experience.
